  1. Quick and Short Sysop Module Instructions:  (by N Hawthorn 12/1/91)

  3. This module was created by N Hawthorn.

  5. BEFORE YOU CAN USE THIS, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS !!
  6.  
  7. (You MUST add the file "sysopstuff" to the "bbssupport" folder for MUBBS.)
  8.  
  9. This does some "HEAVY" sysop stuff, like changing a user's record
  10. and listing users.
  11.

  13. Since this information is "confidential" there are two levels of
  14. "security".
  15.  
  16. 1. You cannot get to the first menu if you are not priv level 19
  17.    (Co- Sysop) or over (20 is Sysop).
  18.  
  19. 2. You cannot get to the SECOND menu (Operations) without a "sysop"
  20.    password ! (this should NOT be the same as your log in password)
  21.  
  22. Tell any "Co-Sysop's" that they shouldn't even TRY to do the "Operations"
  23. because it will log them out WITHOUT ANY RETRY if they don't know the
  24. password! (any ILLEGAL attempts are logged to the user file too!)

  26. This protects your information.

  28. You MUST add the file "sysopstuff" to the "bbssupport" folder for MUBBS.

  30. It contains the sysop "second" PASSWORD ("sysop" right now). Use a text
  31. editor and edit it to SOMETHING DIFFERENT than your log in password. It
  32. MUST have a (CR) at the end of the password.

  35. Check userlist:  (DO THIS FIRST !)

  37. It will tell you the position of any errors. This allows you to FIX any
  38. problems that may be occuring in your userlist file.

  40. Extra characters could get added to the file due to crashes/power glitches
  41. and such.

  43. If you get a error;

  45. JolliWrite (a text edit D/A) has a "indicator" of what character you are
  46. at in a file.
  47.  
  48. Other errors in your user list can be corrected by you using a text editor.
  49.  
  50. I have found "PowerEdit" and "Edit" to work just fine, even though they
  51. don't tell you what character number you are at. I use JolliWrite to look
  52. at the problem area, then switch to "Edit" to edit the WHOLE file (Jolli
  53. Write doesn't allow over a 32K file, and mine is 500K plus).

  58. You can change anything you want, watch the format of stuff, if it has
  59. commas add them back. You don't need to add "~", it's done for you. If
  60. you do add a extra "~" things will get real screwed up.

  62. PASSWORDS: Passwords are UPPERCASE !!! you need to enter them in UPPERCASE !

  64. Log files are read in REVERSE order.
